Very thorough review of all aspects of my health not just kidneys but my lethargy liquid input/output. Talked about the medicines I take as not all nephrology related.
Gave me a very positive way forward with structure and absolutely charming at the same time.
I am sure Dr Shiu, like many in the NHS, was under pressure time wise but she gave me her total attention all of the time.
I am so pleased to be under her wing
Very understandable and caring doctor.
Very happy about handling the case
I have been under the care of Kin Yee for over five years, following my kidney transplant. She is a brilliant nephrologist and we get along very well. Also, thank you to the whole renal team at Edgware, particularly Alba.
Dr Shiu looked into a number of other problems I am dealing with, witch were not directly related to her clinic.
In the last 5 years I have battled with a failing nhs system to get the care my mother needed. Being rushed to a&e numerous times has become traumatic and exhausting for my mum as we just couldn't access a regular blood transfusion or a Dr who would help me negotiate the system to find how we could do this. Under the care of Dr Shiu, she has not only made this happen but also communicated clearly, regularly and honestly about all stages of my mums care. I honestly for the first time felt I had 'someone on my side' who listened and considered my mum in such a thoughtful way. I'm also a senior psychotherapist in the NHS and am aware of the pressures we are all under but Dr Shiu has gone above and beyond. I'm proud to have her as a colleague in the NHS but also for getting the help my mum needed. Huge thanks for all she has done.
