Reading these reviews sound like a different doctor in some cases! He's always been great and makes me confident that he knows his stuff. He does have a very dry sense of humour but then so do I and I look for a doctor to fix me not become my best friend! Yes appointments get moved - we've been in a pandemic! and I think he's allowed to go on holiday too. He's been my consultant for many years for my UC and also familial risk of bowel cancer and I wouldn't change him for anyone else.
Nice enough when I finally got an appointment, listened, sent me for further tests, which got me diagnosed, but when it came for the follow up to discuss treatment, my appointment was repeatedly pushed back, and eventually cancelled and essentially ghosted. In desperation, had to resort to calling 111 cause he couldn't find 5 minutes to write me a prescription for a mild antibiotic to treat a nasty case of sibo. Thoroughly unimpressed, especially given that when I phoned his office after my appointment was pushed back the 2nd time, I found out the 1st push back was due to him being on a golfing holiday. I felt thoroughly abandoned.
Dr Stenner is excellent. Calm , patient, reassuring and every time I’ve seen him has a lovely smile.
My brother and father have both been patients of his and they both have a very high opinion of his patient care and approach.
I would recommend him without any hesitation.
Dr Stenner , done emergency surgery on my husband on Saturday night, I am extremely
great full to him, for his time skill and honesty, and letting me take my husband home today.
Last year I went to see my GP following an episode of severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding. A stool sample analysis showed high markers for inflammation in my bowel. I also have several family members that have been diagnosed with IBD, both Colitis and Crohn's.
I was referred to Dr J Stenner but was seen by a member of his team, and was given an appointment for a sigmoidoscopy which discovered several polyps. After this, I had a colonoscopy which found and removed a total of seven polyps, but nothing that could have caused my symptoms. A follow up appointment was made but then canceled by the hospital. The next appointment was again cancelled by the hospital. During this time I have continued to have occasional flare ups of pain, diarrhea and bleeding.
Finally, a year later, I had a follow up appointment that was not cancelled, and I met Dr Stenner for the first time. He spent maybe 60 seconds glancing through my notes, and told me there was nothing wrong with me, and that my symptoms are due to "some irritation". I don't feel that he had any interest in helping me, and just wanted to fob me off and get me out of his office as soon as possible.
