I’m not one to exaggerate, but what I am about to say may seem a little OTT. Dr.Maggs saved my life. They say one has to hit rock bottom to get back up, and I certainly was at that point. There were too many occasions I genuinely thought I wouldn’t come out of hospital alive. Friends and family have since admitted they had felt the same. He was wonderful, supportive and generous with his time. I never once felt rushed or like just another of his patients. Whilst being knowledgable, he was the absolute opposite of condescending. There were moments I felt I was talking to my best friend rather than a medical professional. My heart lifted every time he walked onto the ward, like having your mum giving you a hug and reassuring you that you were in good hands and that if we worked together things could not only get better, they could be amazing. Since leaving hospital I have rebuilt my life, started a new job, built bridges with people and now look after myself better than ever before. I do it for me, my family and friends and equally Dr.Maggs. He truly is one of life’s most amazing people.
