There were some mistakes / misinterpretations of what I had said in the assessment, which I raised with the consultant and the admin team. I requested that my assessment was not sent to my GP until these were corrected, which was agreed but then it was sent anyway, prior to the review to my GP with the errors in it. I had a review during which there was a breakdown in the communication between myself and the psychiatrist who seemed to want to tell me how I felt rather than ask me and take the time to listen. Considering the importance of treatment, the time allocated to discuss this was very little in both the initial assessment and the review (about two minutes) and assumptions made. I did not feel that there was collaborative approach and I felt patronised and misunderstood. Overall it felt as though I was on a conveyor belt. I think Psychiatry UK are taking on far too many patients and rushing through their assessments, not leaving enough time to discuss medication and the wait time for treatment is over six months so I do think they need to stop taking referrals and work thought their treatment waiting list first.
