My experience was good. My only concerns arose after the BBC panorama documentary on ADHD diagnosis in private companies where appointment times were 1/3rd of what is used by the NHS.
I had misgivings about the questions asked on the initial assessment, I thought it glossed over a lot of issues experienced by people with ADHD, but the actual treatment I received was fantastic. The Dr was insightful and easy to talk to, and my prescriber has been patient and kept me informed right through. Really great service.
My experience of titration at P-UK has been excellent. My nurse prescriber Mike Proctor has been fab, super efficient at responding to messages and always giving balanced and helpful answers to my sometimes obscure questions. Although the wait time for titration is a while, my experience once on the process was brilliant.
Also the women who I spoke to prior to start titration to arrange information to be sent out and appointments to be booked we're absolutely lovely and so empathetic. Which considering they probably speak to a lot of people on a daily basis who are often frustrated, really goes a long way that they continue to show excellent care.
Once the long wait was over the service was great. Fast-paced but equally very responsive and with plenty of guidance. My prescriber as well as my doctor were clear in the communication pleasant in their tone and helpful.
I get the sense that the service is well-run but that the staff have high workloads so on the one hand I'm impressed the quality hasn't slipped, but also this is a bit concerning for them and their well-being.
The only negative is that there isn't much time or space available for discussing different options. My titration was a case of graduating up in doses but we didn't think about different ways to take the medication and what aspects of my experience / symptoms might be helped or hindered. I did get used to it but I felt that in some ways this was tough for because I had to make decisions around whether improvements were good enough, or if there was potential for them to improve more.
I'm happy with the help and service I've received. It does feel a bit like a conveyor belt but that's understandable the way things are going with referrals at the minute so thanks to everyone that helped. My day-to-day has become so much more manageable, which is a huge change.
Found my experience with P-UK extremely positive the entire way throughout the assessment and titration process.
Was treated with empathy and respect. Any queries were dealt with in a timely manner and was provided with good levels of detail. Prescriptions were processed and sent very quickly and I was able to find a treatment that worked well for me.
I had a referral sent which I chased up.I spoke with one member of staff on the phone. Her name is Evelyne and she was the kindest, compassionate and easiest person to talk to. She went out of her way to help me and called me back as promised with news of my referral. She was very knowledgeable with advice and interested in our conversation. We had a laugh together and she really brightened my day. An absolute asset.
I was not listened to or taken seriously.

My doctor was helpful in explaining my diagnosis and suggestions at how to improve. My one issue was that I sometimes felt that the way he spoke about ADHD made it feel as a deformity that I need to work to ‘get rid of’ through things like meditation and exercise etc. Obviously I live with ADHD and understand the difficulty of it but I wish he explained things with a more sensitive approach that was about learning to live with your ADHD and work with it, rather than having a determination to ‘re-wire your brain’ to be more ‘normal’. They seem to have a very medicalised view of it but I just don’t think it’s constructive to think of any mental impairment as something to fix.

Was so patient and helpful and made me feel truly listened to.
I am now finishing my titration for ADHD. The service I was provided with was very good, the timescales given for when to expect the initial consultation and when to start titration were accurate in my case.
My prescriber, Zak Moussa, was excellent. He was very prompt in responding to questions, providing clear and detailed answers. He was also clear about how titration would work, what was expected of me and provided me with options, without it feeling like I was pressured into a certain choice.
This has been a successful process for me, not only do I feel my ADHD symptoms have improved dramatically, but, I have also seen a massive improvement in my mental health, in the form of reduced anxiety and depression.
Whilst I was very happy overall, a couple of things that could be improved on:
- more information provided at outset on the overall process and how things usually
progress would have been appreciated. The information provided at each stage was
good, however, there was a slight worry of 'what happens next?' between initial
assessment, the start of titration and the end of titration.
- the notes system does not allow for replies, so each note is its own entity, allowing
for replies would, I believe, make communication a bit easier.
