Our eldest was approaching the end of A'Levels when we realised that they might have ADHD. To get a speedy diagnosis we decided to go private through Psychiatry-UK. We had an excellent experience from the start, through diagnosis and titration, all the way through to the final arrangement of shared care with our GP. An excellent service - highly recommended.

This was a very pleasant experience, with an approachable, kind, and intelligent physiatrist.

Having been on the wait list for the local ngs team for almost 2 years myself.. And to have witnessed the woefully inadequate care my husband received for the same Neurodevelopmental issues from said local adhd clinic. I am beyond grateful to the puk team and the patients right to choose. Your dedication to your patients, timely and efficient communication, knowledgeable advice re medication options (all things that were absolutely not the case during my husbands nhs treatment) made my titration period a stress free as possible. I felt heard and listened to with any and all concerns I had and nothing seemed to an issue to resolve one way or another. I cannot stress how massively positive it has been for myself and my whole family for me to finally have a diagnosis and be medicated adequately for my adhd. It has literally changed my life. It has also made me realise my own strengths much more than before after a whole life spent feeling like nothing I did was ever good enough, and that I'd never make the best of my talents and strengths due to cripplingly restricted executive function. It has also given me the confidence to fully advocate for our son who has all the signs of adhd himself. I refuse to let him go through life like he's stuck in quicksand as his peers sail through everything, that was my lived experience and I will make sure he has better opportunities to find ways to manage his own ups and downs that adhd brings. Thank you.

Good communication during the whole process and quick response considering pandemic restrictions. I would definitely recommend this service.

We aren’t a family who really posts reviews, but this one felt necessary. Though, it’s difficult to put in to words what the team at Psychiatry UK have done. This our story. Having a child with ‘disabilities’ is something that few people truly get, particularly when they are academically successful. For us, the journey has been really long, with multiple diagnoses and interventions, yet not a lot had changed except services became more fixed in shape. A shape that did not fit however hard the local teams tried. So we went back to our instincts and booked an private ADHD assessment with Psychiatry UK. Anticipating some issues as we were also contending with a restrictive eating disorder, we messaged the team, and thankfully Dr Roberts agreed to help. All we can say is it was like a saint arrived. It was clear from the report that he got the situation, issues and experience! The report gave the best assessment and likeness to of all the reports we have ever received. It was the first time that a psychiatrist or psychologist truly understood, and knew how to approach and communicate with the various issues that were at play. Then came titration. We all knew, and Dr Roberts had made us aware of the challenge. But, in a supportive and sensitive way got me motivated to take responsibility and own it. It was a challenge. It was a long and hard process, with many up, downs, and turn arounds, and at many points a reality check. Throughout, Hannah, Dr Roberts and the GP communicated well, and demonstrated the patience, knowledge and understanding. The experience was personal, with the eating disorder acknowledged and worked with, and at not point was it made to be an insurmountable problem. On what felt like out last try it clicked. The change was stark: ‘brain, head and body’ were finally connected. Something which has shone through in the most beautiful way in multiple parts of life. Coming home to a young adult, fed, dressed, working on their PhD and walked dog is something that was a distant dream to us. It’s nice to now be able to cuddle up on the sofa come of an evening, together, calmly, in a clean house and watch a film. To many this may feel like nothing, but to us it feels like the world. To Dr Roberts, Hannah, and the team at Psychiatry UK, thank you for giving us this the greatest gift, it’s been worth every penny.

I am very pleased with the assessment I received. The online video appointment suited my schedule and took place on the weekend in the evening which enabled me to take the appointment without booking time off from work. The psychiatrist Dr. Hari was very polite, professional and efficient during the appointment. He had received the pre-assessment documents I completed and asked relevant questions that led to my diagnosis. He provided additional scientific information about the condition and answered all the questions I had. He also gave information on communities on social media site I could join for support and to better understand my condition. I would highly recommend using Psychiatry-UK for an assessment.

Talking to another person, a stranger, about personal issues and challenges is never a fun experience. Dr Tambimuttu managed to balance the demands on him as a clinician with a large case list and his focus on me in excellent balance. If you find the process jarring and tricky, keep with it, I left feeling understood and well advised - it is the first step in a long journey but we are underway!

I’ve had a great experience with Psychiatry- UK. All involved including admin, my prescribing nurse and psychiatrist have been nothing but helpful. I felt fully supported and listened too throughout. Any questions I had were promptly responded to and medication sent without issue. It was important through titration, that weekly feedback was given from myself - and when this was submitted, a timely response with advice or answers to questions followed. I’ve received lots of information for my condition including websites, recommended reading and lifestyle changes. All really helpful going forward. A big thank you to all at Psychiatry UK.

While my psychiatrist was just amazing and reassuring, it seems like their service has been badly impacted due to covid which leads nurses to give unreliable information about the waiting time: first it was 4 weeks , then 6 weeks and once the 6 weeks are up, they cannot provide information anymore and just apologise for the delay. Apologising is good when you see some changes behind however in this case, no one answers the phone , and nothing seems to be done regarding the delays which is really frustrating since you would have already paid the first 360£ for the first appointment. Overall I feel abandoned after having paid the first fees and do not understand how everyone else writing reviews is receiving great care which is the reason why I would not recommend it to anyone. I do not know if I would have went ahead if I knew how the service would be, everyone is affected by covid, it’s been going on for a year now, and for a service that is so expensive and dealing with people that come to them for help I would have expected a bit more organisation and a bit more than “all we can do is to apologise for the delay”.
