Their thoughts on this doctor: Dr Ammar knew how worried I was about the surgery I had had to have with my first baby and was concerned that I should not have to have the same when I recently had my third baby. She took time to explain why she thought I should not proceed with the surgery and visited me several times after I left the labour ward to check on me and to make sure I was recovering well. She took a chance in over-ruling her colleague but she believes that treating the patient and listening to their concerns is vital to a good outcome and I am glad that she did. She was lovely and helpful and helped me achieve the outcome I wanted after my third baby (as did all the other staff at the Epsom Maternity Unit). Thank you.

Their thoughts on this doctor: I was scheduled to have a total abdominal hysterectomy with another surgeon when i got an earlier cancellatin date and saw Miss Ammar. For the first time in all my gynae visits she made me feel like a person, didnt rush me and went through every aspect of the operation with me. I had been told by the previous surgeon that i would need a total hysterectomy and because my fibroids were so large would be cut from navel down! Miss Ammar said she would try her hardest to cut alongside my caesar scar as she as a woman wouldnt like a huge scar if it could be at all avoided. She also spoke to me about the possibilities of a partial hysterectomy where there would be no chance of my bladder getting damaged. I woke up after the op and she had cut me alongside my caesar scar ( actually my cut was shorter than my caesar scar ), had left my ovaries and a portion of the cervix as discussed. I was elated. Her aftercare was fantastic as was all the members of her team and i would highly recommend her. What a wonderful angel she was.
